Coach Sarah....At Your Service

As of last week, I have become a certified level 1 USA Track and Field Association Coach!

I made it through 22 hours of lecture talking about physiology, biomechanics, jumps, throws, sprints, hurdles, endurance, and so much more. Talk about data overload!! My brain hurt by the end from all this new information. And while I have little (okay...NO interest) in jumps and throws, it was interesting to learn about the techniques and skills that are involved in these aspects of T&F. After the course was complete, I took the online exam to complete my certification. With a score of 96% I can officially call myself Coach Sarah (Fine print - the test was open book)

What does this mean exactly?? No, I am not quitting my day job to become a T&F coach....let's face it, coach's salaries aren't exactly comparable to engineer's! I'm not really sure what I am going to do with my new title. I was actually one of the few people in the course that wasn't already a coach some where. For now, I am trying to volunteer with some local running programs maybe including some of the charity teams for the Boston Marathon as well as helping friends that want to start running, improve their running, or are just to lazy to make their own program!

Client numero uno.....my fabulous husband Bryan!! He is training for a half marathon in October so I have written a training plan for him. This plan takes into account his current running fitness, his busy work schedule, and both his long term and short term goals (even if he doesn't know what his long term goals are...I do!)

So if anyone else is looking for some coaching, the position of client numero dos is still open. I accept payment in the form of good recommendations if I ever need them :)

Nope...the BAA half on 10/11. With my expert training, I need to make sure he doesn't beat me :)

Congrats Sarah that's awesome! I may enlist your services - after being sidelined with a stress fracture and moving to NYC I've lost my running time and I miss it! Having a hard time getting back into it...
