A Warning!

As we are coming up on the spring racing season (4 more days!!!!), I wanted to offer up a word of advice and a warning for all you racers. I learned this lesson the hard way when running the New Bedford Half Marathon last month (new PR!!).

If your compression shorts are riding up your leg, DO NOT adjust them in front of a course camera....

At least I was better prepared for the next photographer :)

Lesson learned!! (and I'll be wearing different short for Boston :) )

What A Run!!

So I was finally able to get outside for a run tonight. It was sunny, no wind, and 50 degrees...just about perfect!! As if that wasn't enough, you will never guess what happened while I was running!!

I was coming back up Comm Ave feeling good with the sun on my back. I saw this shadow moving pretty fast behind me which made me take notice. As the runner got closer, for some reason I turned to see him. Imagine my surprise when I saw it was RYAN HALL!!!! I new he was in town for the 3 weeks leading up to Boston to train on the course but never imagined I'd actually see him. I was so shocked and I think I said something like "wow...you're Ryan Hall!" (I'm such a dork) He smiled and said yes so I picked up my pace a bit and we ran together. I told him how awesome I think he is, how I really hope he wins Boston, and how great it is that he's able to train on the course these last few weeks. I also told him that I live a mile from Heartbreak Hill. I was huffing and puffing pretty hard but he was just cruising. This goes on for a couple minutes and I then see him wave to someone coming in the opposite direction and realize as he gets closer that it was MEB!!! They exchanged hi's and kept going in their own directions. At that point, Ryan turned to me and said April Fools.

Did I get you? I did really meet him a few years ago and have a picture to prove it :)

Is it sad that I spent most of my 11.2 mile run today planning this story in my head? I told you I was a dork :)
