Back in the 50's

No, not the temperature (although it is supposed to be 51 degrees tomorrow!)...I'm talking about my mileage. Last week was my first week this training cycle that I broke the 50 mile per week mark. Here's how it all played out:

Monday - 6 miles over lunch at a Goldilocks pace (not too fast, not too slow!)

Tuesday - 11 miles of triple play that I wrote about last week....great run!

Wednesday - supposed to be 10 miles but my Garmin was dead so I ran a route I thought was about 10 miles. Turned out it was only 8.75 miles so a little short. I also underestimated the temperature that night and was a frozen block of Sarah when I got home! I walked in the door and Bryan exclaimed "Your ears are a color red I have never seen skin before!!"

Thursday - No run, but 60 minute swim class. We did about 30-40 minutes of actually swimming and then learned how to dive off the blocks. Let me tell you they are a lot higher than they look, but at least I didn't belly flop like some of the people in my class...ouch!

Friday - Easy 6 miles at lunch on a nice sunny day

Saturday - 18 mile long run with Janette out of Fitcorp that included the Comm Ave hills. My legs were feeling heavy but overall the run went well. Averaged 8:46 min/mile which is a little faster than most of my long runs but I'm pleased with it.

Sunday - I usually don't run on Sunday's but it was 45 degrees and sunny so Bryan and I went out for 4.2 miles along the river. It was still pretty icy so it was a slow run but my legs felt good after Saturday's 18 miler. I think I might start adding in a post-long run recovery run to see how my legs handle it.

So there you go.....54 miles for the week! I plan to increase a little more over the next few weeks.....so far, so good and my body is handling the mileage well. Another 10 weeks until race time!!

What a great week! Many of my running friends that put in higher weekly mileage swear by the post LR run. Up until this cycle I hadn't been doing it either but I'm starting it up as well.

I ran in 48* last night and it felt like heaven!
